Through the class Twitter, despite there being 18 different persons in the class, a majority of us like movies of the same genre and movies which came out during the same time period. We found that of the 18 people in the class, 12 of the movies came out from 2000-2012 and only one came out in 2016. Five of the of the movies were from before our classmates or before or when they were a young age. The two different genres that were almost evenly shared are comedy and drama; however, some of the movies may have multiple genres or fit into more than one genre. Most of the movies can also be said to be forward thinking because they focus on present or future ideas rather than the past. None of the movies had a common actor or director besides "The Dark Knight" and "Shawshank Redemption" both including Morgan Freeman. On Twitter, Case Cain said, "#MyFavoriteMovie is Rushmore [because] it's an awesome coming-of-age movie and those kinds of movie are my jam," (@Case_ENC2135) which relates to "13 Going On 30" being that that is also a coming-of-age movie. Furthermore, most of the movies mentioned today do not follow genre conventions. For example, Zombieland is categorized as a comedy and horror film: these genres are opposites, therefore, following the conventions of both would create a different feel than what the directors were going for.
