The genre conventions of Valentine's day are romance, colors of pink and red, hearts, and themes of love shown through presents and heartfelt acts. When I think of Valentine's Day, I think of roses, boxes of chocolates, the classic Valentine's Day cards, and heartfelt gifts. Valentine's Day seems to usually be a holiday that is focused on the woman in the relationship because it is often expected that the man showers the woman with flowers, stuffed animals, and chocolates. The movie properly titled "Valentine's Day" directed by Gary Marshall in 2010 fulfills the conventions of Valentine's day because it showcases multiple couples and the romantic gestures that they do for their loved one. It includes bouquets of flowers, jewelry, romantic poems and letters, and fancy dinners all filled with the classic colors of pink and red. All of the couples in the movie are the "traditional" couple of a man and woman and the men are usually the ones who are buying the women presents.
